Baker's Dozen Plate

Baker's Dozen: 13th Century
This old saying originated from the days when bakers were severely punished for baking underweight loaves. Some added a loaf to a batch of a dozen to avoid a fine or a flogging. The 13th loaf loaf added is called a the vantage loaf.

Each plate is unique due to the nature of hand making and the unpredictability of the kiln firing. They are sturdy, functional and dishwasher proof and sometimes display characteristic minor imperfections.
