Mentioned by Chaucer – the Flitch Trials in Dunmow, Essex, couples must convince a jury that they have never wished themselves unwed for a year and a day. Rare winners were awarded a flitch of bacon by the mayor. Held every four years.

Each plate is unique due to the nature of hand making and the unpredictability of the kiln firing. They are sturdy, functional and dishwasher proof and sometimes display characteristic minor imperfections.
