Use Your Loaf: 19th Century

Commonly used in Cockney Rhyming Slang –  'Use your loaf of bread' for 'head' to mean use your common sense. Far less substantiated is the claim British soldiers hiding in the trenches during WW1 would use a loaf to stick above the parapet to check if snipers were around.

Each plate is unique due to the nature of hand making and the unpredictability of the kiln firing. They are sturdy, functional and dishwasher proof and sometimes display characteristic minor imperfections.
